First tests of my iPhone5
My iPhone 5 arrived today. I am keeping the 4s, but swapping the phone numbers. This required a trip to the AT&T store as the 5 uses a micro SIM chip, so a simple swap of the phone SIM chips could not be done. I had to get 2 new chips with the correct phone number for each chip.
There were some similar issues with restoring to the new phone from my backup of the 4s that I had when I moved to iOS5. I have 34 email addresses and had issues with ports and passwords. I think I have it working close to the perfect.
AT&T’s LTE speed reaches away from Orlando a bit. I had the LTE signal in Lake Mary, Longwood, and Winter Springs. However, there were a few places where the signal went to 3G traveling between them.
I first tested the speeds of the iPhone 5 at LTE. Then I tested my iPad at its 3G speed. Then I made the iPhone 5 an LTE hotspot and used it with my iPad. Here are the results:

I am pleased with the speeds, but they certainly are not consistent. AT&T continues to roll out their LTE. I will be in Seattle & Portland in the next week, and read that they just added both of those areas to their growing LTE network. Verizon is still the strongest in LTE availability, however.
