Impressed with a Congressman

I just watched a program on C-Span, where Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican from California and the Chair of the Oversight & Government Reform Committee was with Craig Beilinson, of Microsoft Corp, senior director of Consumer Products. Issa was at the Consumer Electronics Show ( as I was), and was asking Beilinson some questions about their mobile initiatives, including Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8.

Issa came from the Electronics industry, and really showed that he understands the technology, unlike a great many of our members of Congress. According to Wikipedia, he was formerly a CEO of Directed Electronics, the Vista, California-based manufacturer of automobile security and convenience products.

The format of the segment showed Issa asking questions as if he were a Leo LaPorte or some other knowledgeable interviewer. It was the first time that I can remember that I was impressed with a Congressman knowing what is going on with the computer industry and the consumer electronics industry and not just spouting BS.

Note: the C-Span program is "The Communicators" and will be re-broadcast Monday January 23 at 8:00am on C-Span and 8:00pm on C-Span2. After that it should be available on YouTube.
