I am not going to make this a long and boring resume. I will give a quick outline as to the type of jobs and careers that I have had. I do want to point out to any Hughes School students that may be reading this, that I have had many changes. My weak subjects at Hughes were Science and Art.
The last several years I have had computer and internet related jobs, where science and art are very important. The company where I was employed required a scientific background for the products that we sold, as well as the computers that I helped support. I am currently teaching Internet Web Design classes at Florida Metropolitan University and Web courses in the Continuing Education Department at the University of Central Florida, both in Orlando, Florida.
I remember saying that I will never need science or art. You never know...
Here is a little of what I have been doing since my days at Hughes School.
- Freshman and Sophmore high school at Utica Free Academy (which I understand is gone).
- Moved and graduated from Brockport (NY) Central School
- Attended Ithaca College for Radio-TV
- Graduated from the State University at Brockport (NY) with a BS in Education
- Taught 7th grade Social Studies in Warsaw (NY) and Mt. Morris (NY)
- Moved to Florida in 1970 and worked in the Bar and Night Club industry for 20 years, starting as a bartender and becoming a supervisor for several large chains
- Bought a home computer when I saw a 9 year old use one and taught myself how to use it, as a hobby
- Worked as a programmer and computer consultant
- A friend and I merged into a computer sales and service company
- Hired as a web master for a catalog company and moved to Information Services Manager
- Web Site Design Service
- Instructor at local college for Web Engineering courses
- Still single, no children and living in the Orlando, Florida area
